Every time a patch rolls around and knocks all my mods off-line, I take note of what features I keep pining for the most. These are my favourite mods:
CosmosUI [download] [website] [forum]
Cosmos is more than just a mod. It is a giant (and I do mean giant) collection of indepdendent mods, integrated to one another and attached to an easy-to-use preferences panel.
In particular, I find I cannot live without EasyMail, Clock, SelfCast, ItemBuffs, and MooBuffMod. I also love CombatStats, QuestMinion, LockBar, PopBar, TotemStomper, TackleBox and MonitorStatus. I have high hopes for some of their incomplete modules such as Census+, PartyQuests, and RaidMinion.
Gatherer is ridiculously awesome for anyone involved in tradeskills. It tracks any ore deposits or gatherable plants you use, as well as any treasure chests, and stores them on your mainmap and minimap for future reference. It does NOT tell whether there is ore (for example) there currently, it just tells you that ore has been known to spawn there. In my experience, that's plenty good enough, and it makes my searching go so much more quickly.
Initially it is empty, and it only collects new harvesting points when you use them. If you feel a bit annoyed that you've been harvesting forever, but just found out about this plugin today, feel free to download a starter database. The database can be installed using the Gatherbook program (you can also use it to make backups of your own database).
Auctioneer and Lootlink (bundled together) are very useful. Lootlink remembers the vendor prices of items, and Auctioneer remembers the auction prices of items, then they display that information to you in the item's tooltip.
The command /ll scan is used when you have the auction window open, to scan the current auction prices. I also recommend that you consider running the command /ll light to cut down on Lootlink's memory usage. You lose the functionality of the Lootlink window (simply /ll or /lootlink , but personally I never use that anyway. I don't need to see the tooltip for items I don't have anymore...
MobHealth is a simple (but handy) little plugin that helpfully figures out, based on the damage you do versus the drop in the enemy's HP bar, how much HP an enemy has, and remembers that number for whenever you meet another one of those enemies.
That's all for now. Enjoy the mods. I know I do.
